Network etiquette. Rules of behavior in the network

 Netiquette is a system of rules created by people to communicate with each other on the Internet. Internet communication etiquette is recommended for beginners and experienced users for comfort in communication.

What shouldn't be done on the Internet in terms of netiquette?

  • The use of profanity in communication;
  • Insulting people, inciting hatred between them;
  • Deception and theft in any form;
  • Conducting discussions on abstract topics in inappropriate places (forums, chats, comments).

Basic rules of netiquette

There are several principles of netiquette to follow:

  • Comprehensible presentation of information. The interlocutor sees only the text, so gestures, changes in tone and facial expressions will not help here. Each message should be thought out to the smallest detail and not hurt the point of view of other people.
  • Standards of conduct as in real life. People often forget that the person they are talking to is the same person, so they think that the rules of conduct may not be so strict. Communication may differ, but the standards of conduct remain the same.
  • Inspection before entering the discussion. Once in a new area, look around and listen to what others have to say and how.
  • Respect for others. By sending a letter or message, you are claiming someone's time. Make sure that this time is not wasted by the interlocutor.
  • Save your face. Netiquette implies respect for the interlocutor. If in real life it is manifested in the manner of communication or clothing, then on the network it is grammar, conciseness and text design.
  • Do not allow conflicts. Netiquette against conflicts that can destroy a friendly environment. Those who do not participate in conflicts get tired of them.
  • Refusal to abuse opportunities. System administrators are powerful, but even they shouldn't read private correspondence.
  • Forgive people mistakes. Not everyone writes without mistakes or can express thoughts succinctly. If you are a netizen, then you shouldn't be teaching good manners to less experienced users.

Netiquette and email

  • Address the interlocutor personally (by name or first name and surname, but at the same time without familiarity);
  • Pay attention to the form of greeting (especially nice personal greeting);
  • Fill in the "Subject" field, as the addressee evaluates the contents of the letter precisely by this field;
  • Respond to the interlocutor promptly (it all depends on the pace and rhythm of the company's life: you can answer someone within a day, and others within a few minutes);
  • Submit the information in the letter correctly (A4 page, attachments no more than 3 MB, standard archives in RAR or Zip formats);
  • Do not forget about the block of contacts (name, surname, position and contacts).

Observing the rules of network marketing in correspondence, you can make the best impression on the interlocutor.
